What Are Cosmetic Injectables?
Anti-aging injections can smooth wrinkles, restore lost volume, and enhance facial contours without surgery. These treatments work by either relaxing targeted muscles or adding volume beneath the skin to create a refreshed appearance. Options range from neuromodulators that soften expression lines to dermal fillers that define features. With a quick treatment session and little to no downtime, injectables offer a convenient way to refine your look.
What We Treat With Cosmetic Injectables
Loss of Volume
Injectables restore volume in areas that have lost their natural support over time. The cheeks, temples, and lips are common areas treated with this type of injectable. We offer a variety of dermal fillers that can enhance facial contours with robust formulations for facial contouring, and flexible formulations for high-movement areas like the lips.
Lines and Wrinkles
Repeated facial movements and collagen loss make lines more noticeable. Some wrinkles, like crow’s feet and frown lines, form from muscle activity, while others settle in due to skin laxity. We can treat both dynamic and static lines with our injectables.
Facial Asymmetry
Even subtle imbalances in facial features can affect overall harmony. Some patients have naturally uneven lips, while others notice one cheek appears flatter than the other. With carefully placed injectables, we bring more symmetry to areas like the jawline, lips, and cheeks.
Skin Laxity and Sagging
Aging skin loses firmness, but injectables can help restore structure and support. We use wrinkle reduction treatments to lift and refine areas where laxity has developed, like the jawline, midface, or under the eyes. Several of these products can stimulate collagen production to restore the texture and quality of the skin.
Submental Fullness
A well-defined jawline can sharpen the overall appearance of the face, but fullness under the chin can blur this definition. Using injectables, we can target fat cells in this area to slim and contour the lower face. If desired, we can add dermal fillers to the jawline or chin to make these changes even more distinct.
Signs of Aging in the Hands
Hands often give away aging just as much as the face. Volume loss can make veins and tendons more prominent and create a thinner, more skeletal appearance. Fillers restore fullness beneath the skin, helping hands look smoother and more youthful.
Acne Scars
Some scars leave behind deep indentations that can be difficult to conceal. Skin injectables smooth these areas by filling in depressions. This technique works well for improving the look of rolling scars.
Why Choose Injectable Treatments?
Fast and Minimally Invasive
If you’re looking for a way to refresh your appearance without a long recovery, injectables make it easy to get noticeable results with little to no downtime. A quick visit is often all it takes to smooth lines, restore lost volume, or enhance facial contours. Since facial rejuvenation treatments are minimally invasive, you can get back to your day right after your appointment.
Beautiful, Customizable Results
Every face is unique, and injectables allow for a fully customizable approach. Whether you want subtle refinement or more defined contouring, we adjust the placement and amount of filler or neuromodulator to match your goals. The goal is to enhance your natural features rather than change your appearance.
Long-Lasting, But Not Permanent
One of the advantages of face injectables is that they provide long-lasting improvement without a permanent commitment. Depending on the type of injectable, results can last several months to over a year. If you love your refreshed look, maintenance treatments can help you keep it. If you ever decide to try something different, your natural features will gradually return over time.
What Types of Cosmetic Injectables Do We Offer?
Neuromodulators
Botox, Xeomin, Dysport
Botox (onabotulinumtoxinA), Dysport (abobotulinumtoxinA), and Xeomin (IncobotulinumtoxinA) have been used successfully for a number of years to treat severe Glabellar lines, better known to most of us as frown lines. It has been approved for use in patients up to 65 years of age. Injected into the muscles around the brow area, it effectively paralyzes the muscles and prevents them from contracting. This means the wrinkles, frown lines or furrows temporarily go away. People have been drawn to this method of reducing the effects of aging as it is a simple yet effective procedure that carries very little risk for patients.
At Plastic Surgery Specialists we provide the highest level of care while customizing each treatment for our patients’ needs. Treatments can be scheduled at any time and require zero downtime following completion. Since there is minimal discomfort, patients are able to return to their normal routine immediately following their treatment. Patients notice maximum results within 1-3 days; however, in rare circumstances, full effects may take up to 5 days to be seen. Results will continue to improve for up to 2 weeks following the initial treatment. The results of Botox, Dysport and Xeomin injections have been shown to last up to 6 months.
Dermal Fillers
JUVÉDERM ULTRA XC, ULTRA PLUS XC and JUVÉDERM VOLUMA XC
JUVÉDERM is a collection of injectable gels that instantly smooth out facial wrinkles and folds. Our Doctors can tell you which formulation is right for you: ULTRA is optimally formulated for versatility in contouring and volumizing, especially in the lip area. ULTRA PLUS is a robust formulation for volumizing and correcting deeper wrinkles and folds and lasts up to one year. JUVÉDERM Voluma XC lifts and contours cheek area, temples and jawline and lasts up to two years.
Restylane, Restylane Lyft, Restylane Silk
Restylane lasts twice as long as collagen injections, so treatments are typically scheduled twice a year. Evidence shows that having a touch-up treatment before the product has fully dissipated will enhance the lasting effect. These cosmetic dermal fillers are FDA-approved to treat moderate to severe wrinkles and folds, volume loss, and more.
The hyaluronic acid in these products has been modified slightly to last longer than the body’s hyaluronic acid. In the human body, it provides volume and fullness to the skin. The difference is in the gel particle size. Restylane Lyft particles are larger and designed for deeper injections than Restylane and Restylane Silk. Our Doctors will decide which product is right for you based on an evaluation of facial wrinkles and folds. Restylane Silk, which is used for upper lip lines, lips, and under eye area, lasts about 6 months. Restylane Lyft and Restylane last approximately 18 months.
Belotero Balance
Belotero Balance is a hyaluronic acid filler that integrates smoothly into the skin, filling in moderate to severe etched-in lines while maintaining natural movement. This formulation blends seamlessly for subtle smoothing and is ideal for areas like vertical lip lines and smile lines. It enhances the skin’s texture without creating stiffness, so your expressions stay soft and natural. Since it has a lightweight consistency, it also works well for delicate areas that need precision. The result is skin that looks refreshed and is natural to the touch.
Fat Grafting
Fat grafting uses your body fat to restore lost volume and enhance facial contours. We start by gently removing fat from areas like the abdomen or thighs using a liposuction device. We then purify it before injecting it into areas that need more fullness. This approach creates natural-looking results while also improving skin texture and elasticity. Much of this fat can become a permanent part of the treated area. It’s an effective option for softening wrinkles, filling in hollowed cheeks, or refining the contours of the face and hands.
Biostimulators
Radiesse
Radiesse is a safe dermal filler that restores a natural, long lasting, youthful appearance. It can restore facial volume as well as correct moderate to severe facial folds and wrinkles, including nasolabial folds. Radiesse is made of unique calcium-based microspheres suspended in a natural gel that also stimulates your body to make new collagen. The results are immediate and may last a year or more in many patients.
Sculptra
Sculptra is the only facial injectable approved by the FDA to last up to two years. A one-time treatment regimen of up to four injection sessions that are scheduled about three to four weeks apart for correction of shallow to deep nasolabial fold, contour deficiencies in cheeks, temples, and jawline. It also provides correction in facial wrinkles and offers a natural, gradual effect. We will determine how many injections are right for you.
Fat Reduction Injectables
Kybella
Kybella is an FDA approved nonsurgical treatment for submental fullness, a concern sometimes referred to as “double chin”. The active ingredient in Kybella is deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into the fat beneath your chin, Kybella causes the destruction of fat cells. Once destroyed, those cells cannot store or accumulate fat. Our doctors will customize a treatment plan of a series of injections each lasting 15-20 minutes.
What to Expect During Your Injectable Treatment
When you come in for aesthetics injectables, we will talk to you about your goals and discuss the best approach for your treatment. Once we choose the right injectables, we may use a numbing agent to keep you comfortable. We carefully place the injections using a tiny needle and precise techniques. The entire process typically takes less than 30 minutes, and you’ll be able to return to your schedule right after your appointment.
FAQs About Injectables
How Long Do Injectables Last?
Results depend on the type of injectable you choose. Fillers typically last anywhere from six months to two years, while a neuromodulator like Botox or Dysport softens expression lines for about three to four months. Some patients notice longer-lasting results with regular maintenance treatments. We’ll go over what to expect and how often you may want touch-ups to keep your results looking fresh.
Do Injectables Hurt?
Most patients find injectables very tolerable. Many fillers contain lidocaine to make the process more comfortable, and we can apply a numbing cream if needed. You may feel a small pinch or pressure at the injection site, but the treatment itself is quick. Any tenderness afterward is usually mild and fades within a day or two.
When Will I See Results From Cosmetic Injectables?
It depends on the type of injectables you receive. Fillers provide instant volume, so you’ll see a difference right away, though minor swelling can take a few days to settle. Neuromodulators take three to five days, and biostimulators can take several months to stimulate enough collagen for noticeable changes.
Which Injectable Is Right for Me?
The best option depends on your goals. Fillers work well for restoring lost volume or contouring areas like the cheeks, lips, and jawline, while neuromodulators target dynamic wrinkles caused by facial movements. Some patients benefit from a combination of several injectables. During your consultation, we’ll assess your features and recommend the right approach for natural, balanced results.
How Much Do Injectables Cost?
Pricing varies depending on the type of injectable, the amount needed, and the treatment area. Some patients need only a small amount for subtle enhancement, while others may want more comprehensive treatment. We’ll give you a clear breakdown of costs during your consultation so you know exactly what to expect before moving forward.
